For any car lover, one thing is certain: the fourth generation of the 911, better known as the 993, is one of the most likeable versions in the history of this classic. Although almost only the roofline remained unchanged, the new model that appeared on the market in 1993 was packed with the characteristic 911 design. The 993 underlines its exceptional position in sports car land with his completely redesigned aluminum LSA suspension. It combines lightweight construction, stability and agility. To this day, the multi-link suspension is regarded as the ultimate development stage of the rear axle. The result: even more driving dynamics and further improved suspension comfort. It is the last 911 to have an air-cooled boxer engine. New to the 993 is the six-speed manual transmission, which ensures that the top speed of more than 270 km/h can be achieved without having to use excessive gears. Moreover, the new six-speed transmission shifts much more precisely and power is increased to 285 hp. Porsche’s VarioRam induction system was designed to improve low to mid-range torque by optimizing airflow at different RPMs.
